Description
This Slow Cooker BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Dip is a warm, savory appetizer combining crispy bacon, ground beef, cream cheese, and a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses with BBQ sauce and diced tomatoes. Perfect for parties or game day, it’s easy to prepare and slow cook until hot and bubbly, served best with chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks.
Ingredients
Scale
Meats
- 8 slices bacon, chopped (plus extra for garnish, if desired)
- 1 pound ground beef
Dairy
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Other Ingredients
- 1 (14.5-oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (use low-carb or keto BBQ sauce if preferred)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Brown Bacon and Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, reserving some for garnish if desired. Add the ground beef to the same skillet and cook until fully browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spoon or spatula as it cooks. If you prefer, you can cook the bacon and beef together without setting any bacon aside for garnish.
- Finish Prep: Stir the cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, shredded cheddar, diced tomatoes (with juices), BBQ sauce, and Italian seasoning into the skillet with the cooked ground beef and bacon. Mix everything together until well combined and the cream cheese begins to soften.
- Slow Cook: Transfer the entire mixture to a 3 1/2 to 4-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and the cheeses are fully melted. Stir well before serving to evenly distribute ingredients and flavors.
- Serve: Spoon the dip into a serving bowl or keep warm in the slow cooker. Garnish with any reserved crispy bacon if desired. Serve with your choice of chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute the BBQ sauce with a low-sugar or keto-friendly version to reduce carbs.
- To make cleanup easier, spray the slow cooker insert with a non-stick cooking spray before adding the mixture.
- This dip can be kept warm in the slow cooker on the ‘warm’ setting for up to an hour before serving.
- If you don’t have mozzarella cheese, feel free to use all cheddar or a blend of your favorite cheeses.
