Description

This Savory Pumpkin Pizza combines the sweetness and earthiness of pumpkin puree with a blend of cheeses and aromatic spices, baked on a crispy homemade dough. It’s a delightful twist on traditional pizza, perfect for fall or any time you’re craving a unique savory dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Pizza Topping

  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C), and if available, place a pizza stone inside to heat for a crispier crust.
  2. Prepare Dough Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, and salt. Gradually add the warm water while mixing to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Roll Out Dough: Roll out the dough into your desired pizza shape and thickness. Then transfer it carefully onto the pizza stone or a baking sheet.
  5. Prepare Pumpkin Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the canned pumpkin puree with garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Spread this mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  6. Add Cheeses: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese across the pumpkin layer. Follow by placing dollops of crumbled goat cheese and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake Pizza: Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Once baked, garnish the pizza with freshly chopped parsley before slicing into 8 pieces and serving warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the water used for the dough is warm but not hot to activate yeast properly.
  • Using a pizza stone helps achieve a crispier crust but is optional.
  • Adjust the seasoning in the pumpkin topping according to taste preferences.
  • You can substitute goat cheese with feta for a slightly different flavor profile.
  • Let the dough rest for a few minutes after kneading for easier rolling if time allows.
