Instructions
- Heat Spiced Milk Mixture: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, molasses, maple syrup, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves. Stir well to incorporate the spices.
- Warm and Infuse Spices: Continue heating the mixture, stirring occasionally until it is hot but not boiling, allowing the spices to meld into the milk.
- Add Vanilla: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract for added flavor depth.
- Prepare Coffee: Brew your espresso shots or prepare 1/2 cup of strong coffee according to your preference.
- Fill Glass with Ice: Take a serving glass and fill it with ice cubes to chill the latte.
- Pour Spiced Milk: Carefully pour the warm spiced milk mixture over the ice in the glass.
- Add Espresso or Coffee: Slowly pour the prepared espresso or strong coffee over the milk and ice to create a layered effect.
- Mix: Stir the latte well to blend the flavors of spiced milk and coffee evenly.
- Optional Topping: Top the latte with whipped cream if desired for a creamy texture and indulgence.
- Garnish: Sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon or ginger on top for an extra burst of warm spice aroma and flavor.
- Serve: Serve immediately to enjoy the chilled and spiced iced gingerbread latte at its best.
Notes
- Use any type of milk you prefer – dairy, almond, oat, or soy all work well.
- Adjust the amount of molasses and maple syrup to taste depending on your preferred sweetness level.
- If you don’t have espresso, very strong brewed coffee can be used as a substitute.
- Whipped cream is optional but adds a rich and festive touch.
- For a stronger ginger flavor, increase the ground ginger slightly or add a small amount of fresh grated ginger during heating.
- This drink is best served immediately to preserve the texture and flavor contrast between warm spiced milk and cold ice coffee.
