Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or 1 vanilla bean, scraped
Topping
- 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar, for dusting or icing
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan using non-stick cooking spray or butter to ensure the donuts won’t stick during baking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening agents and seasoning.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the whole milk, melted unsalted butter, large egg, and vanilla bean paste or scraped vanilla bean seeds until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Create Batter: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, gently stirring until just combined into a smooth batter. Avoid over-mixing to maintain fluffy texture.
- Fill Donut Pan: Using a spoon or piping bag, fill each cavity of the donut pan about three-quarters full with the prepared batter for even rising.
- Bake the Donuts: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed or a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the Donuts: Remove the donuts from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Then carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely, ensuring the donuts keep their shape.
- Finish with Topping: Once completely cooled, dust the donuts generously with confectioners’ sugar or optionally drizzle with a simple sugar glaze to add a sweet finishing touch.
Notes
- Do not over-mix the batter to keep the donuts tender and fluffy.
- If you don’t have vanilla bean paste or vanilla beans, you can substitute with 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract.
- Ensure the donuts are completely cool before dusting with sugar or glazing to prevent melting.
- Use a piping bag to fill the donut pan for neater, more even donuts.
- These donuts can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for best freshness.
