Description

Dr Pepper Chili is a hearty and flavorful slow-cooker chili that combines ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and a splash of Dr Pepper soda for a unique sweet and savory twist. Perfect for a cozy family meal or game day gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (browned and drained)
  • 1 cup frozen chopped peppers and onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 15 ounces red kidney beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 10 ounces diced tomatoes with green chilis
  • 28 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 ounce chili seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoons sauce from chipotles in adobo
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 12 ounce Dr Pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, then drain the excess fat. Mince the garlic and measure out the frozen chopped peppers and onions.
  2. Add Ingredients to Slow Cooker: Place the browned ground beef into the slow cooker. Add the frozen chopped peppers and onion, minced garlic, rinsed and drained red kidney beans, diced tomatoes with green chilis, tomato sauce, chili seasoning, sauce from chipotles in adobo, brown sugar, and Dr Pepper soda.
  3. Mix Ingredients: Stir all the ingredients together well to ensure flavors are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  4. Cook the Chili: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 6 hours or on high heat for 4 hours. This slow cooking allows all the flavors to meld together beautifully.

Notes

  • Brown the ground beef first to reduce excess grease in the chili.
  • Adjust the chili seasoning amount depending on preferred spice level.
  • If desired, garnish with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions before serving.
  • Leftover chili can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for longer storage.
