Description

These Cinnamon Roll Muffins combine the delightful flavors of a classic cinnamon roll with the convenience and texture of a muffin. Swirled with a cinnamon and brown sugar mixture and topped with a sweet glaze, they make a perfect breakfast treat or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • â…“ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • â…“ cup unsalted butter, melted

Cinnamon Swirl Mixture

  • â…“ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk or cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners to prepare for baking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt to ensure they are evenly combined.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter, whisking until smooth.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just mixed. Avoid overmixing to keep muffins tender.
  5. Prepare Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter until well combined to create the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  6. Fill Muffin Liners: Spoon batter into the paper liners, filling each about one-third full. Add a teaspoon of the cinnamon swirl mixture on top.
  7. Layer Batter: Add more batter on top of the swirl until liners are about three-quarters full.
  8. Swirl Mixture: Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter to create a marbled effect.
  9. Bake Muffins: Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool Muffins: Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Prepare Glaze & Drizzle: Mix the powdered sugar with 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk or cream to make a smooth glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the warm muffins before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to avoid dense muffins.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon in the swirl mixture according to your taste preference.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute milk and butter with plant-based alternatives.
  • Use fresh cinnamon for a stronger aroma and flavor.
  • Store muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
