Description

Brownie Puppy Chow is a delicious and easy-to-make snack featuring crispy Rice Chex cereal coated in a smooth blend of melted chocolate and peanut butter, then dusted with fudgy brownie mix for a rich, decadent treat. Perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you crave a sweet, crunchy bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz box of Rice Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups chocolate melting chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 8 oz box of fudge brownie mix

Optional Add-ins

  • Reese Pieces or other chocolate candies

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cereal: Pour your entire 12 oz box of Rice Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl, ensuring there is enough space for coating later.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Place 2 cups of chocolate melting chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Set microwave power to 50% and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is about half melted.
  3. Add Peanut Butter: Add 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter to the partially melted chocolate. Continue microwaving and stirring until both are fully melted and combined into a smooth mixture.
  4. Coat Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the Rice Chex cereal. Gently stir until all the cereal pieces are evenly coated with the mixture.
  5. Apply Brownie Mix: Pour the entire 8 oz box of fudge brownie mix into a large ziplock bag. In small batches, add the coated cereal to the bag, seal it, and shake gently to coat the cereal evenly with the brownie mix. Use a large slotted spoon to remove coated cereal and transfer it to a baking sheet. Repeat until all cereal is coated.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the coated cereal to cool completely on the baking sheet so the coating sets properly before serving.
  7. Customize (Optional): For variety, add Reese Pieces, other chocolate candies, marshmallows, or different cereals to create unique flavor combinations.

Notes

  • Use a large bowl and large ziplock bag for easy mixing and coating.
  • Be gentle while stirring to avoid crushing the cereal.
  • Cool completely before storing in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • This snack is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored for up to a week.
  • Adjust optional add-ins based on preference or dietary restrictions.
